On 30 October 2016 Moresh Wegene Amhara has held an important public meeting in the London Borough of Wandsworth at the York Gardens Library & Community Centre.
Main speakers included: Mr Tekle Yeshaw, Mr Getachew Alemayehu, Colonel Alemayehu Haile and Dr Dibaba Tesfaye.
The purpose of this Public Meeting was:
* To denounce the recent killings and commemorate the victims at Bisheftu Irrecha (an Annual Cultural Festival).
* To denounce the ongoing killings in Wolkaiet, Tegede, Armacho, Gonder and Baher Dar, for standing for the cause of Wolkait Amharas.
* To commemorate the passing away of Engineer Hailu Shawel, political leader of the All Ethiopia People Organisation and Kinijit.
* To commemorate the passing away of the great Ethiopian hero, General Tefera Legese, the most decorated fighter pilot in Ethiopia in the 70s, who passed away in Washington DC on 5 October 2016.
* To denounce the genocide and human suffering and to commemorate the victims of Amaras in the last 25 years of Woyane’s rule in an unprecedented ethnic repression in Ethiopia. In addition to this a research based book that contains facts about the extent of the Killings and repressions against the Amaras has been presented by Mr Tekle Yeshaw, Chair of Moresh Wogene Amhara. Ato Tekle urged all Ethiopian to buy and read this Book (MITSIATE AMHARA).
At the end of the presentations participants asked various questions with regard to the current ethnic politics and how the Amharas can take the leading role in defending Ethiopia from disintegration and further suffering. Participants showed sympathy for the victims of Ethiopians and promised to support Moresh Wegene Amhara organasation.
