In spite of all the recent disappointing news from Ethiopia Iwooket Media has been very patient and careful not to complain and condemn the new PM Abiy’s Regime which has replaced the previous ethnic based lawless tyrant (TPLF) in late 2018. This change was not possible without the scarifications of the Ethiopian people and the support from the peace loving International Community.
Ethiopians in diaspora and in the main land accepted Abiy as their PM and showed their all rounded support to carry out his promises which include promoting the unity of the country, rule of law, and to respect the history and values of the people. Many people praised him for releasing prisoners and for recognising the gross Human Rights Violation of the previous TPLF manipulated regime. Taking into consideration the above positive approaches and some shallow reforms many of us were hopeful that the suffering of the Ethiopian people will end peacefully without violence.
However, arbitrary killings, Segregation, displacement and corruption are still at large because of the infiltration of few narrow minded fanatic groups who are always against the unity and interest of the Ethiopian people. The situation at some of the outskirts of Addis Ababa is not only saddening and illegal but also it is a backward and disgusting action against the innocent residents of Burayu and Legetafo. According to reliable sources the houses and lively hoods of tens of thousands of Ethiopians have been demolished by fanatic OLF affiliated bureaucrats.
Most of the displaced people are children and the Elderlies. Such Barbaric actions against the innocent and peaceful Ethiopians will affect healthy cooperation, peace, development and stability in the country. The ethnicly based System in Addis Ababa claims that the demolishing action is to create a Park in the area. This is a laughable pretext . Most of the area people even do not have enough food to eat and clean water to drink. The demolishing of properties and displacement has also been targeting certain Ethnic groups. This will not be a fun for PM Abiy’s government and for those racists who are committing such heinous crimes. OLF/OPDO (ODP) emerged as a new threat against the unity and stability of Ethiopia.
Iwooket Demands the Ethiopian people to satay united against division and injustice. Iwooket also urges all friends of Ethiopia, Human Rights Organisations and the International Community at Large to denounce this dangerous and back ward ethnic based crimes against Humanity. The Ethiopian people must not sit down and watch when their security, values and the unity of the country are destroyed by crazy ethnicized groups who actually need to face justice for their previous heinous crimes.
Unless PM Abiy Ahmed keeps his words and democratise Ethiopia and bring all genocide perpetrators and the 60.00 Billion US Dollar robbers to justice his government will lose trust and respect which will ultimately have a serious consequences for PM Abiy himself and for the vast majority of the Ethiopia people. Beyond Ethiopia the situation will also affect peace and stability in the Horn of Africa. If PM Abiy wants to make history by running a free and fair election to democratise Ethiopia he must first bring all the criminal Ethnocentric group leaders to justice.
If PM Abiy fails to do so and collaborates with the minority fanatic sectarian groups then he will lose his popular support that he has been enjoying from the Ethiopian people i.e. the pacified opposition group will soon be reorganised to defend the Ethiopian people by all means available.
