The Fascinating Valley of River Jema (ዠማ), Tegulet and Merhabete in Ethiopia

ታላቁ የኢትዮጵያ ዠማ ወንዝ ተጉለትና መርሃቤቴ:: In this video you are going to watch the fascinating Valley of the great River Jema, Tegulet and Merhabete in Ethiopia. River Jema is the biggest tributary of River Abay (Nile). The graceful Jema River flows between its catchments of the the grate Highlands of Merhabete and Wello in the North East and the High lands of Menz, Tegulet, Jiru, Moret and Insaro in the South. The Valley of Jema ( ዠማ) is famous for its Teff, Sorghum and fruits and vegetables.

As you can see in this video this extended Valley is one of the most productive areas in Ethiopia. Main crops include: Teff, Sorghum, Sesame seed in the lowland areas and wheat, Barley, Teff, Broad beans, Chickpeas, Guwaya (Amharic), and Lentils in the highland areas. It is also one of the main sources of fruits and vegetables such as Banana, Lemon, Tiringo (Amharic), Variety of Onions etc. There are also considerable Coffee and Gesho (Amharic) plantations which are used by farmers as cash crops and also for domestic consumption. River Jema is also a source of Fish.

The area farmers use their ancient Amhara methods of fishing such as BIRBIRA (to intoxicate the fish) and MEREB to catch variety of delicious fish during Summer time. River Jema swells in KIREMT (rainy seasons) and the vibrant flood will fill all the lowest levels of the valley. River Jema has been mentioned and blessed by Abune Zena Marqos and other Saints of Ethiopia. Abay (Nile) Gets its real power when it meets Its brother River Jema and they flow together as River Nile nourishing the desert of Sahara in the Sudan and Egypt. It finally rests in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Blueness of the Mediterranean sea might be generated by the blue Nile’s Millions of Years of water accumulations. River Jema flows between its catchments of the the grate Highlands of Merhabete and South East Wello in the north and the High lands of Menz, Tegulet, Jiru, Moret and Insaro which includes all Southern parts of North Showa (Amhara zone) The Valley of Jema is famous for its Teff production. As you can see in this video the Valley of Jema is covered with different crops even though most of the crops had been already harvested.

Finally I would like to thank Mr Menelik Mandefro and Tsegaw Nadew for their contribution in the production of this important and educative video film. ታላቁ የኢትዮጵያ ዠማ ወንዝ ተጉለትና መርሃቤቴ P lease subscribe at www.youtube.com/c/KefaleAlemu to lear more about this stunning area.
